Kevin McCarthy is a visual artist and art instructor based in the Pacific Northwest. Born in Chicago and raised in northwest Illinois, he earned his BFA in Painting and Printmaking from the Kansas City Art Institute in 1988. Drawn to the creative culture and landscape of the region, he relocated to Seattle in 1996 and has been an active member of its art community ever since.
Kevin has participated in both local and national exhibitions, with projects including Mad Art’s Mad Campus, Art in Great Places in Everett, and the 2023 Art+Flight exhibition at The Museum of Flight. His work has been featured in publications such as The Stranger, Seattle Weekly, and City Arts.
In addition to his studio practice, Kevin is an experienced art educator. He completed Seattle Pacific University’s ARC program in 2011, earning his K–12 Visual Arts teaching certification, and has taught art in the Puget Sound region since 2012. His teaching spans drawing, painting, mixed media, printmaking fundamentals, ceramics, and digital art. Kevin specializes in creating welcoming, accessible environments for learners, encouraging skill-building, exploration, and personal expression.
He continues to live and work in the Pacific Northwest, maintaining an active studio practice.
